Top Restaurants in Tanay

Hey PropertySurfers, I’m Gin, the GenZ broker of PropertySurf. I handle Tanay for our brokerage and I live only an hour away from the area. Tanay holds a special place in my heart, filled with cherished memories of weekend hikes with friends, spontaneous late-night trips with my barkada, and even celebrating Christmas with my family in 2021.

With Tanay just a 1.5 to 2 hr drive from Manila, it has been relatively easy to squeeze in a quick road trip to this scenic town. While it is most common for visitors and travelers to go visit the east for a nature trip and myriad of outdoor activities, one can not dismiss the delightful and brilliant restaurants in this beautiful town. Here are some dining establishments worth exploring:

Epic Resto

Nestled atop a hill, Epic Resto is a charming restaurant within the Epic Park Rainforest Camp along Sampaloc Road, offering enchanting vistas of Laguna Bay and the cityscape. I remember a spontaneous trip with my family and how we accidentally discovered this place as it was the first place that caught our attention with its impressive Laguna de bay views seen from the road. Their menu features a delightful array of hearty rice meals, snacks, desserts, and breakfast options to cater to various tastes. What sets this restaurant apart is its unique picnic package, providing guests with a camping tent, handwoven mat, table, pillows, chips, biscuits, and refreshing drinks. For an extraordinary experience, we highly recommend visiting Epic Resto as early as 5 PM to catch the mesmerizing sunset from their cozy dining huts.

Tanay Highlands

If you are looking to dine with one of the best views in Tanay, then Tanay Highlands can be on the top list. It is situated on Marilaque Highway and presents a view deck providing a 360-degree view of the Batangas and Laguna mountains, Pililla windmills, and Laguna de Bay. This al fresco cafe allows pet-friendly relaxation on well-maintained grassy grounds. The breakfast menu features Filipino dishes like Beef Tapa or Native Longganisa. Coffee options include classics like Americano and Cappuccino, alongside unique drinks like chocnut and ube halaya latte. We recommend going here as early as 6-7AM to fully enjoy the morning breeze and don’t forget to take instagrammable photo during your visit.

BNK Cafe and Resto

BNK Cafe & Resto – Budbod ni Nanay Kaling is a famous stop for motorcycle riders and travelers alike because of its affordable and delicious authentic Filipino staples like Mix Budbod (rice toppings). This place is ideal for large groups perfect is you are travelling with your family and friends. My friends and I chose this place as our last stop after a long day hike in Treasure Mountain. We got one of their family packages for a more sulit meal (they are generous in their serving sizes too!). It can also get crowded so we recommend that you visit early in the morning when there are less crowds.

Wyndell’s Al Fresco

Divided into three sections—cafe, samgyupsal area, and the main dining area—Whyndell’s Al fresco caters to various preferences. The main dining area, with mountains and trees as a backdrop, offers an overwhelmingly beautiful view, especially during sunset. The menu features a wide variety of dishes, including sandwiches, pasta, and pizza. For larger groups, Wyndell’s is a popular choice, providing ample space for families and clans. The establishment also offers an open-air grill with options like steak and grilled oysters, as well as a K-BBQ al fresco restaurant for unlimited samgyup. The breathtaking view, live music at night, and diverse menu make it a sought-after dining destination in Tanay. Surprisingly, Wyndell’s Al Fresco also operates 24/7, providing a round-the-clock dining experience!
